Pro tip: stopped using plastic spacers, switched to metal ones on a job in Phoenix last month

I was always grabbing those cheap plastic spacers for block work but kept having them snap or shift in the heat. Finally tried a set of old-school metal spacers from a guy retiring, and honestly, my lines came out way straighter. Cost me about $40 more but saved me from redoing a whole section. Anyone else find metal spacers worth the extra hassle?

Hey did you notice a big difference in how straight your lines stayed once you switched? I've been dealing with plastic spacers popping loose on humid days here in Florida and it's driving me nuts. A buddy of mine who does masonry on the side told me the same thing about used metal spacers being way more reliable. Might be time to bite the bullet and hunt down a set myself, even if it stings the wallet a bit at first.

I got a set of heavy duty metal spacers from a guy getting out of the trade last year, and they've been solid for my retaining wall jobs. The extra weight keeps them from sliding around when things get hot here in Vegas.
