That time a pigeon stole my mortar mix in Brooklyn

Last Tuesday I'm laying brick on a brownstone in Park Slope and a pigeon lands right on my fresh batch of mortar. I shoo it away but it comes back three times, like it was daring me. My foreman saw the whole thing and started cackling, said the bird had better timing than most apprentices. Has anyone else had wildlife mess with their job site?

Bet that raccoon has a nicer level collection than half the guys on my crew.

That pigeon had better timing than most apprentices" - that quote cracks me up. Something about this reminds me of the time a raccoon stole my level in Queens. I set it down for maybe thirty seconds to grab a drink, and this chubby raccoon waddles over, picks it up like it was a toy, and disappears into a sewer drain. Never saw that level again. That was a good one too, not one of those cheap bubble levels. Your foreman laughing at you is probably the best part of these stories though, because they'll never let you live it down. I still get asked if I checked the drain when I lose any tool on site.
