Bulk bin sales are way up at my local store

I talked to a worker there about the change. They mentioned that more people are buying staples like rice and beans in bulk.

Bulk beans seem cheap, but they come with hidden costs. You need a lot of storage space for them. Cooking from dry takes hours of your time. If you don't use them fast, they can go bad or get bugs. The upfront price might be low, but your time and effort have value too. Sometimes buying canned is just easier and still okay on cost.

Storage is the real killer lol. I keep my bulk beans in old plastic gallon jugs with the lids screwed on tight. No bugs get in that way. The cooking time is a pain, so I just use a slow cooker overnight. Waking up to cooked beans is way easier than watching a pot for hours.
