My aunt told me I was wasting money on pre-chopped veggies and I did the math for a month...
She was right, I was paying almost $4 extra per bag, and now I spend 20 minutes every Sunday chopping my own for the week - has anyone else had a family member call them out like that?

...and honestly I gotta ask - was it just the money or was there something else behind her saying that? Like did she also mention how the pre-chopped stuff goes bad faster or the texture gets weird? Because I've had relatives call me out on stuff before and half the time they're actually trying to save me from some other headache they've already been through, even if they don't say it directly.

Have you actually tried letting the pre-chopped stuff sit in the fridge for a day or two @kim_nelson? The moisture loss is real, especially with onions and bell peppers where they get this weird slimy film after a couple days. That's usually what older relatives are hinting at when they say "you're wasting money" - they know the convenience tradeoff catches up to you faster than you'd think.

Totally feel you on that, the slimy onion thing is such a bummer when you're trying to save time.
