Showerthought: I spent $60 on groceries for one person this week because I keep shopping without a list
Walked into the Kroger on 5th street after work on Wednesday with no plan, grabbed stuff off the shelves, and got home to find I already had two jars of the same pasta sauce in the pantry, so now I'm staring at my receipt wondering how anyone feeds a family on a budget when I can't even feed myself right.
The "two jars of the same pasta sauce" thing gets me because that's the real damage right there, not the $60 itself. Like, how often do you actually check your pantry before you leave the house? Because I've done the same thing with canned tomatoes and rice more times than I want to admit, and it's always the cheap stuff that piles up. Do you ever go through your receipt after and actually see where the money went, or does that just make you feel worse? I'm asking because I tried tracking mine for a month and found out I was buying snacks I never even ate. Curious if it was the impulse stuff or the staples that got you.
