Hostels are actually cheaper than Airbnbs if you check the cleaning fees first
I ran the numbers on my last trip to Denver and the hostel was $28 a night versus $62 for a private room after all the junk fees, found that stat from a breakdown on Priceonomics last week, anyone else notice Airbnb fees are getting out of hand?

I read a travel blog breakdown last week that said Airbnb cleaning fees have gone up like 40% since 2020, which is wild. The hostels I've been seeing in bigger cities are usually $30-$40 a night and include free breakfast or walking tours, plus you meet people. My friend swears by using Hostelworld for those hidden gem places that don't pop up on Booking.com.

Yeah it's the same thing everywhere, feels like every service is quietly raising fees while cutting back on what you actually get for your money. I noticed my mechanic started adding a "shop supplies" charge last year that basically doubles the oil change price.
