I finally booked a 'cheap' airport hotel and it cost me a full day in Lisbon

Saved $40 a night but the shuttle ran once an hour. Missed my morning flight connection. Some say any savings is good, others say pay more to stay close. What's your rule for airport stays?

Ugh, that's the worst! I learned this lesson the hard way too. I once saved like thirty bucks on a hotel that was a twenty minute shuttle ride from the terminal. The shuttle was never on time and I spent the whole night stressed, barely sleeping. Now I will only book a place I can walk to or that has a 24/7 shuttle running every 15 minutes. That little bit of extra money is totally worth the peace of mind.

Yeah, it's like we're all trained to chase the cheapest option. But that extra thirty bucks you saved just gets spent on stress and lost sleep. I see it with parking too, driving around for an hour to avoid a ten dollar fee. The real cost isn't just money, it's your time and energy.
