Thought hostels were the only way until I tried couchsurfing in Prague

Spent 4 hours trying to book a cheap hostel in Prague and everything decent was booked solid. A friend pushed me to try couchsurfing and I found a spot in 20 minutes, ended up saving $85 over 3 nights.

Couchsurfing in Prague is a lifesaver for sure, especially when hostels jack up prices in tourist season. I did it there a couple years ago and my host took me to a locals-only pub, best decision ever. Just make sure your profile has some real reviews and a clear photo, people are way more likely to say yes.

Not gonna lie I had the opposite experience in Prague, some random guy let me crash and then tried to charge me for "accidentally" breaking his lamp the next morning. Feels like you're rolling the dice every time with strangers online.
