A trip to the grocery store in Bellingham made me rethink my budget rule

I was at the Haggen on Meridian yesterday and saw they had a 'manager's special' section for meat that was 50% off. I bought a $15 roast for $7.50, but my usual rule is to never buy meat unless it's on my list. Part of me thinks this is a smart win, but another part feels like I broke my own system. Do you think bending your budget rules for a clear deal is a good idea or does it just lead to more impulse spending?

Honestly, @brooke71 has a point about overthinking it. The real test is if that roast sits in your freezer for six months. A good deal only counts if you actually use the thing, right?

Relax, it's just a roast. You saved money on something you'll actually use. Overthinking a seven dollar purchase is the real waste of time.

But what if @brooke71's freezer is already full of other deals?
