Finally cracked the grocery budget with a stupid simple trick

I was so frustrated with our food spending... we were blowing like $900 a month for two people and I couldn't figure out where it all went. Tried meal planning, coupon apps, even switching stores but nothing stuck. Then last month I just started writing down every single item I bought on a sticky note as I walked through the store. Turns out I was grabbing $8 worth of random snacks and drinks every trip without even thinking. I cut that out and now we're at $680 for the month and honestly I'm not even starving. Anyone else find a weird little habit that made a bigger dent than the big stuff?

Sticky notes beat spreadsheets every time.

Ask @sarahh48 what happens when you need to find a specific note from three months ago though... I've had too many sticky notes fall off the fridge and get thrown away by accident. A quick sort in a spreadsheet is way easier than digging through a drawer full of faded notes.

Spreadsheets let you sort, calculate, and search in seconds. Sticky notes get lost and you can't back them up.
