Switched from buying lunch every shift to packing my own 3 months ago

I used to drop $12-$15 on a burger and fries near the restaurant kitchen every day, but after adding up the $280 I spent in March alone, I started throwing together rice bowls from leftover ingredients before my shift... has anyone else found a way to cut food costs without losing their mind from meal prep?

and honestly swapping one packed meal a day doesn't have to be some big production. i started just making double portions of dinner and scooping the leftovers into a container for the next day's lunch. that cuts the cost down to maybe a dollar or two per meal and i don't have to think about it at all. the trick is picking things that taste good cold or reheat well like stir fries or grain salads. what do you usually put in your rice bowls?

Black beans, corn, avocado, and a squirt of lime.
