Switched to cash envelopes for groceries after hitting $600 in one month

I was blowing past my grocery budget every week, so I started pulling out $250 in cash each month and leaving the cards at home. Has anyone else found that handing over actual bills makes you think twice before tossing extras in the cart?

Just $250 might not last the whole month if you're buying for more than one person.

Oh yeah totally! I tried doing $250 for me and my kid last month and by the third week we were eating nothing but rice and beans lol. Groceries are just crazy expensive now even for basic stuff like milk and bread. I ended up having to dip into my gas money just to get through the last week which was not fun at all.
