That $89 meal kit subscription actually saved my food budget
I signed up for a meal kit service in Austin back in March because I was throwing away like $60 of groceries every week. The first box cost me $89 and I almost cancelled right there. But I tracked my spending for two months and my grocery bill dropped from $420 to $260 a month since I stopped impulse buying stuff I never cooked. The portions are smaller than I thought but I'm not wasting anything now. Has anyone else found a subscription that cut their costs more than the monthly fee?
Did you find the smaller portions were actually a problem at first? I used to roll my eyes at meal kits and thought they were just a fancy way to pay more for less food. But hearing that your grocery bill dropped $160 a month makes me wonder if I was wrong about the waste factor being the real cost.
