I planned a strict zero spending week after a rough month, then my work coffee machine died and I dropped $14 on a thermos at a Target in Fresno. Still, tracking every cent on a plain paper ledger caught that I'd double paid my electric bill, which saved me $86. Has anyone else had a budget fail that accidentally led to a bigger win?
