Got pushback for sharing a blocked story, changed how I verify sources now

Ngl, last week I posted a piece about a local election report that got pulled offline in Ohio, and someone in the comments tore me apart for not checking the original PDF. They said my summary missed two key paragraphs that changed the whole meaning. Honestly, that stung, but they were right. I went back, found the archived copy, and saw I had relied on a secondhand translation instead of the primary doc. Now I only share things if I can trace it to the original source or at least two independent reprints. Has anyone else had to adjust their process after getting corrected by a stranger?

...so the real question is, did you go back and fact check the two paragraphs they flagged, or did you just start verifying sources on future posts? Because tbh, admitting you were wrong is one thing, but actually sitting down with that PDF and seeing where you tripped up is a whole other level. That's the part that changes how you read things forever, not just the process you use now.
