Reading an old report from a journalist group, I saw that a 2018 factory leak in Jiangsu province was kept out of national news for almost a full month.

I mean, it makes you think about the whole 'public's right to know' versus a government's desire to control a story, so where do you guys draw the line on what should be reported immediately?

Check the local news first, they often break stories the national outlets can't touch. A month is way too long for something that could affect people's health. The line gets drawn when public safety is on the line, full stop.
