Vent: That vendor who tried to sell me on a 'partnership' before even asking about my business

I was at a trade show over in Cleveland last spring, and this one sales rep from a supply chain software company cornered me for like 20 minutes. He kept talking about how we could be 'strategic partners' and all this stuff, but he never once asked me what my actual business did or what problems I had. Finally, I just interrupted him and asked if he even knew I run a painting crew, and he just kind of stared at me. Has anyone else had vendors pitch you a whole relationship before they even know your name? How do you shut that down without being rude?

Used to think partnerships sounded cool until a vendor tried to sell me one without even asking my name.

Without even asking my name" - how do you even respond to that without just walking away right there? Did they actually expect you to say yes to a partnership with someone who didn't know basic stuff about you?
