Hit 500 linear feet of scribing on one job and I still think we overthink it
Just finished a kitchen in a old house downtown where nothing was square. I scribed over 500 linear feet of filler, crown, and end panels by hand. Everyone keeps telling me to use digital templates or laser measuring tools. I tried a朋友's scanner once and it took longer to set up than just doing it with a compass and block plane. Am I the only one who thinks the old methods are still faster in crooked old houses?

500 linear feet is a solid week of work by hand. I used to think all the laser stuff was the future until I watched a guy spend 45 minutes fighting with his scanner on one crooked corner cabinet. Block plane and a sharp compass still beats electronics every time in old houses where nothing is square.

Man I feel that. There's something about old houses that just laughs at lasers.
