That job where I reattached a butcher block countertop with threaded inserts

Had a call last Tuesday in Portland, homeowner's laminate countertop was pulling away from the cabinet box. Used threaded inserts instead of screws and the thing's solid as a rock now. Anyone else try those on tricky reattachments?

Wait, you used threaded inserts on a countertop reattachment? I used to think those were overkill for something like that, but I had a similar job last month where the particleboard was so chewed up from old screws that nothing else would hold. I grabbed a kit of brass inserts and it was a game changer. They bite into the shitty MDF way better than screws ever did, and the counter hasn't budged since. Made me a believer.

Oh man, SAME. Threaded inserts saved my ass on a rotted-out cabinet last week.
