That miter saw blade nearly took my finger off last week

I was trimming some oak crown molding in my shop in Portland last Thursday and the blade guard stuck open. Didn't notice until I reached in to clear a offcut and the teeth caught my glove. Lucky it only shredded the glove and not my hand... has anyone else had issues with the guard sticking on a Dewalt 780?

That kind of thing can sneak up on you faster than you think... one minute you're coasting along, next thing you know you're counting seconds between flashes and booms. Best advice I can give is to always have a bailout plan before you even leave the trailhead, not when you're halfway up a ridge. Check the radar religiously and don't trust the forecast alone, because weather can change way faster than the apps predict. If you're asking yourself "should I turn around?", you probably already should have turned around five minutes ago. I've made that mistake before and it's a sick feeling in your gut you don't forget...
