Took me 3 hours to fix a cabinet door gap I could have solved in 5 minutes

I was hanging some shaker style doors for a kitchen remodel last Tuesday and one of them had this weird 1/8 inch gap at the bottom that just would not go away. I kept adjusting the hinges, shimming the frame, even swapped out the door thinking it was warped. After way too long I realized I had the hinge cups screwed in at the wrong depth setting. Felt pretty dumb but hey, now I know to check that first. Anyone else waste a whole afternoon on something that simple?

Had the hinge cups screwed in at the wrong depth setting" oh man, I've definitely been there. I started marking each cup with a sharpie for the right depth and it saves me so much headache now.

Is it really that big of a deal? I mean, just adjust them again if they're off, right? Seems like it would take like five seconds.
