Appreciation post: Bringing my brother on a job turned into a bonding moment

I've been installing cable for a few years and never thought much about how it ties into family stuff. My brother is in high school and always wondered what my day looks like, so I let him come with me on a basic setup last week. We were at a house running lines for a new entertainment system, and I taught him how to fish cables behind drywall. He got really into it and even pointed out a potential snag in the attic that saved us some time. Now he asks me about different connectors and how to test signals, which is pretty neat. It's made us closer because we have this shared thing to talk about outside of just family stuff. Honestly, showing him the trade has been more rewarding than I expected.

Teaching your brother to fish cables is a sneaky way to get a lifelong apprentice.

That "lifelong apprentice" idea is spot on. I did the same with my brother, and now he's the first person I call for help on a big job.
