First time I hit under 20 minutes on a full house drop...
Been running drops for about 8 months now and yesterday I did a full house install in 18 minutes flat. Last winter I was pushing 35 minutes easy on similar layouts. Switching to a lighter coax stripping tool and actually pre-running my fish tape is what did it I think... anyone else notice a big jump in speed after changing one small thing?

First time I hit under 20 minutes" - cool, I guess? But is this really a big deal or just you measuring something that doesn't matter much? I'm skeptical because a fast drop doesn't mean it's a good drop. I've seen guys blast through a house in 15 minutes and leave a mess of loose coax and bad terminations everywhere. Speed is nice and all, but if you're not checking your signal levels or making sure your connectors are tight, what's the point? Are you actually testing your drops after you finish or just clocking the time?

Honestly, it depends on what you're testing. Signal levels can look fine on paper but if you half-crimped a connector it'll fail in a month anyway. My husband used to run drops for a cable company and he swore by giving each connection a solid tug before moving on, saved him a ton of callbacks.
