Superglued a lens ring to my finger instead of using a spanner

Last week I had to choose between a worn-out spanner wrench or a dab of superglue to grip a stubborn filter ring on a Canon FD. Picked the glue, and 10 seconds later my thumb was welded to the ring and the lens, had to soak my whole hand in acetone for 20 minutes lol. Anyone else have a dumber tool shortcut story from the bench?

The acetone soak is a classic move but honestly the real problem started way before the glue. You said the spanner was worn out, so the actual fix is just getting a cheap set of filter wrenches that actually grip. But since we're already past that, here's the thing nobody mentions. Superglue on a lens ring is a one way ticket to scratching the glass if the ring slips and the lens falls. You got lucky it was just your thumb. Next time try the rubber band trick, wrap a thick one around the ring and it usually grabs better than any tool. Way less dramatic, but your fingers stay intact.
