Three years of monthly use is way different than three camping trips per season.

Read something on a hiking forum where this guy tested a Big Agnes and a Coleman tent over four years. The cheap one started leaking seams and the zipper got stuck around year two, but the expensive one was still solid. I guess it depends if you camp twice a year or every month like that guy. He said the Big Agnes pole snapped in a windstorm once but they sent a free replacement no questions asked. The Coleman was trashed after three years but he only paid a hundred bucks so he didn't feel bad chucking it. So really the expensive one wins if you want to keep using it, but the cheap one works if you don't mind replacing it.
