Just realized fiberglass mesh tape is way better than paper for my climate

I live in the Pacific Northwest where it's damp all the time. Spent 6 months fighting paper tape blisters on drywall patches. Switched to fiberglass mesh last week and it stuck flat every single time. No bubbling, no peeling. The old timers online told me mesh cracks more but I haven't seen that yet. Has anyone else had better luck with one tape over the other in a humid basement?

Oh man, my buddy out in Seattle fought the same paper tape fight for over a year in his crawl space. He finally caved and tried fiberglass mesh on a ceiling patch and it's been solid through two rainy seasons now. He still swears the old timers might be right about cracking but says he'd rather patch a crack once a year than redo a blister every month.

Wait, you mean he's actually okay with fixing a crack every year instead of just doing the paper tape right? That sounds like pure insanity to me but hey, whatever floats his boat I guess.
