Looked up how much Amazon pays in taxes and couldn't say anything at work

Found a report from last year saying Amazon paid an effective federal tax rate of like 6% on billions in profit. I brought it up during lunch break and my manager shut me down fast, said we don't discuss politics at work. I wasn't trying to start a fight, just thought it was wild that a huge company pays less tax than I do on my electrician business. My shop paid about 22% effective rate after deductions in 2024. Has anyone else found a fact like that and gotten told to keep quiet about it?

Keep it simple next time - just say "wild how the numbers work in this country" and leave it vague so they can't pin you down. What kind of stuff gets you into trouble when you bring it up now?
