That time I got yelled at for telling the truth about a friend's car trade
My buddy was about to trade in his 2012 Civic with 180k miles for $500 at a dealer, and I told him he could easily get $1500 on Craigslist. His girlfriend got mad and said I was "undermining his decision" even though I was just trying to save him a grand.

a simple wash and a good listing" is spot on, honestly a solid wash and some half decent pictures would probably bump it up to 1800 or even 2 grand for the right person. That girlfriend just didn't want her guy to look dumb for almost taking that deal.

His girlfriend missed the real point. That dealer was gonna rob him blind. 500 bucks for a running Civic is criminal. You weren't undermining anything, you were looking out. She should be happy someone caught the bad deal before it happened. That car would sell for 1500 easy with a simple wash and a good listing.
