The day I hit 50,000 miles on my old Honda and got told to keep quiet about it

I was at my usual garage getting an oil change last Tuesday when the mechanic pointed out my odometer hit exactly 50,000. I smiled and said it was nice to have a car that still felt new after all that driving. He got real serious and told me not to mention that number to anyone at the dealership because it could mess up their warranty claims or resale value somehow. It's funny how a simple milestone like that becomes something you're not supposed to talk about just because of business rules. Has anyone else had a normal accomplishment turned into a secret like that?

My neighbor's dad actually works at a Honda dealership and he told me the same thing once. I always thought he was just being dramatic until I read your post, now I get why he was so serious about it. It's weird how something that feels like a personal win has to be hidden just because of some corporate rule.

Read somewhere that dealers get fined big for letting those discounts slip.
