Switched to enclosed transport after a rock chip on I-80

I always used open carriers until a gravel truck kicked a chip into my client's fender near Salt Lake City, and the $2,800 claim plus the awkward phone call made me realize the extra $400 for enclosed was worth it every time, so has anyone else eaten a damage claim that finally changed their shipping setup?
