Overheard my boss say 'we can always find another analyst' and it hit different
I was grabbing coffee yesterday and heard my manager on a call in the next room. He said, 'Don't worry about Sarah's workload, we can always find another analyst if she burns out.' I've been putting in 60 hour weeks for three months straight. It made me realize I'm just a number here. How do you even start to push back when you hear something like that?

So your boss thinks analysts are like printer paper, just grab another ream from the supply closet? Real nice. Hearing that would make me want to "accidentally" forward my timesheet to the whole company. Maybe start by taking your full lunch break, like actually leave the building.

Ugh, that's the worst kind of boss. My friend had a manager who said the same junk about her team. She finally did what @josephs49 said and just left at her actual end time for a whole week. The pile-up on her boss's desk by Thursday was insane. It didn't fix the culture, but it sure made them stop acting like her role was magic. They had to admit the work was real.

Damn, that's rough to hear. I started setting hard limits after my last burnout, like leaving at 5 no matter what. It forced them to deal with the real workload. What's one small boundary you could set this week?
