Picked a full-time desk job over a part-time field gig and it backfired
I had to choose between a 9-to-5 data entry role in Tulsa paying $38k or a field technician spot at $22 an hour but only 25 hours a week. I took the desk job for the stability, but after 4 months the boredom and sitting all day made me miserable. Has anyone else taken the safe route and regretted it, or did it work out for you?

Wait, you're saying the field gig was only 25 hours a week at $22 an hour? That's $28,600 a year even if you get all the hours, which is way less than $38k plus benefits. Sounds like the desk job was the better financial bet from the start, just boring as hell. The real problem might be that you picked a job that doesn't fit your personality or energy level, not that you picked the wrong type of work.

Field gigs usually don't have steady 25 hour weeks though, you might get 30 one week and 15 the next. The math gets fuzzy when hours swing that much.
