Shocked at how many people skip referencing the job posting in interviews

I've sat on six hiring panels this year and almost half the candidates couldn't tell me what the job description actually said. One guy straight up said he didn't read it because "it's all the same stuff." How do you handle candidates who clearly haven't looked at your posting?

I've seen about a third do the same thing in my experience. It's wild. I just move on quickly if they can't even name the role they're applying for.

So what's your cutoff point for this? Like if they at least mention the industry or department but mess up the exact title do you still give them a chance or is it an instant no? I had a guy once tell me he was applying for "the marketing job" at my old company and when I asked which one he said "the one you posted on LinkedIn" like that narrowed it down at all. Curious if you have a rule about how many details they need to get right before you'll even start the conversation.
