Pro tip: check your nail gun hose before you climb the ladder, a $9 fix almost cost me a finger
Two weeks ago I was framing a garage in Boise and my Hitachi nailer double fired into the top plate right next to my hand, which turned out to be a pinhole leak in the hose that was bleeding pressure all morning. I spent 40 minutes chasing it with soapy water and found the leak 6 inches from the fitting, swapped the hose for $9, and the gun has run clean since. How often do you guys actually test your air lines, or do you just wait for something to go wrong like I did?
The part about chasing it with soapy water for 40 minutes hit home. I always figured checking the hose was overkill and the gun would just tell me when something was off. After reading this I'm gonna start doing a quick leak check before I even pull the ladder out.
