Vent: pre-drilling every stud used to feel like a waste until a 2x4 split on me in Waco
I used to skip pilot holes on soft pine and just send screws in, but after that split ruined a whole header and cost me 3 hours of rework, I now drill every single one and I swear my framing goes faster because I stop fighting the wood... anyone else find that pre-drilling actually saves time in the long run with certain lumber?

Those killer bees in studs out east make pilot holes look like a luxury, right @baker.ben?

Man, that's like me with biscuits... I tried to skip them once to save time and ended up with a crooked joint that looked like modern art. Now I pre-drill everything like it's my job, which is sad because it's not my job.
