Watching a guy frame a wall in a downpour last year changed my approach to prep
I was grabbing coffee in Tacoma and saw this old timer setting up a wall section in a parking lot as the rain started coming down hard. He just calmly pulled a tarp from his truck, rigged a quick lean-to over his work, and kept going without missing a beat. Ever since then, I always have a tarp and some rope ready in my truck, even for small jobs. What's your go-to trick for dealing with surprise weather on site?

Honestly, I just keep a big golf umbrella in the van.

Keeping a big golf umbrella in the van sounds like a hassle waiting to happen. Those things are huge and awkward, they just end up rolling around and getting in the way. By the time you actually need it, you're already soaked from digging it out from under all the other junk. A cheap packable rain jacket stuffed in the door pocket is way more practical for quick access.

My van's side door pocket fits a 36 inch umbrella perfectly.
