Why I gave up on always using hardwood for projects

I used to think only hardwood was worth using for furniture. Softwood seemed too cheap and weak for anything good. Then I built a pine bookshelf for my kid's room that held up for years. Now I see how softwood can be perfect for painted pieces or quick builds. It saves cash and still looks nice with a solid finish. Picking the right wood for each job just makes sense now.

It's like that with a lot of stuff, right? We get sold on the premium version when the basic tool does the job just fine. I see it all the time with kitchen gadgets or even software.

Remember when everyone was buying those fancy bread makers? My buddy dropped like two hundred bucks on one, used it twice, and now it just takes up cabinet space. He told me he actually prefers just mixing dough in a big bowl with his hands, says it's easier to clean.

Totally, like @jamiebailey's buddy and the bread maker.
