Foreman told me to rip out the 12 oz padding I just laid in a Tulsa rental because the tenant said it felt too squishy
So last Tuesday I had to pick between eating the cost of 40 yards of padding I already glued down or yanking it all back up and eating 3 hours of labor, and I pulled it up, and the new 8 oz pad felt paper thin so the tenant complained anyway.
Man that stings just reading it. You ate the glue cost, ate the pull up, and the tenant still wasn't happy with the thin stuff. That's the worst kind of lose-lose, because 12 oz is what the spec sheet probably called for in the first place, so the foreman should've had your back instead of caving the second she said squishy. Had a buddy go through the same thing on a flip in Broken Arrow, ripped out good pad for the cheap stuff and the lady still walked it like she was on a balance beam. Some folks just want to feel you bleed a little before they sign off. Hope the foreman at least let you bill that 3 hours.
My cousin went through this exact mess on a rental down in Moore. Landlord swore the carpet was fine, tenant said it felt like walking on a trampoline, so he pulled up perfectly good 8 pound pad and dropped the cheap 6 pound stuff to shut her up. Two weeks later she's complaining the carpet wrinkles when the AC runs. Turned out the real problem was her $40 Amazon vacuum with a bent beater bar chewing up the edges, nothing to do with the pad at all. Landlord still made him eat the second pull up because "you should've caught it the first time." Some tenants just need something to point at so they feel heard, and the guy writing the check always folds. Guys like your foreman make it worse by not backing the one who actually knows the floor.
