Walked a $3 million lake house in Scottsdale and the carpet was installed over a radiant heat floor with no padding
The homeowner bragged about their heated floors, but someone nailed the tack strips right through the tubing and now there's a slow leak that's ruining the whole install, has anyone else seen this kind of shortcut from a cheap crew?
Wait, no. No no no. You do NOT nail tack strips through radiant tubing. That is not how in floor heat jobs go at all. Any crew that knows what they are doing knows exactly where those lines run and they use glue down or they float the carpet or they tape it down, they do not go punching holes in the floor. That is not a shortcut, that is straight up destruction of the system. Somebody is gonna be ripping up that whole floor and jackhammering the slab to find the leak, and that is gonna cost way more than the carpet job ever did.
