My old high school banned a book and the reason caught me off guard
Found out my alma mater in Boise pulled a graphic novel from the library because a parent complained about a single panel showing a character flipping a bird. The librarian showed me the actual review form and it cited 'explicit gesture' as the whole reason. Has anyone else seen a whole book get yanked over something this tiny?

Have you ever noticed how one tiny thing can make people completely lose their minds over a whole artwork? It reminds me of how a single bad word in a movie gets it slapped with an R rating, even if the rest is super tame. Same energy as parents flipping out over a skimpy outfit in a painting at a museum, missing the whole point of the piece. People get so hung up on one detail they forget to step back and ask if it even matters in the big picture. Honestly, banning a whole graphic novel over a middle finger just feels like someone wanted to feel powerful more than they cared about what kids actually get from reading it.
