The "Ulysses" ban debate blew up in my local library board meeting 3 years ago
Some parents think Joyce's book is obscene and should stay off shelves, but others say banning it erases literary history. Which side makes more sense when kids can already find way worse stuff on their phones?

Oh man, I used to be all for keeping it on the shelf no questions asked. But after hearing the arguments at a similar meeting near me, I actually got why some parents are worried. Idk, it's just hard to argue with the whole "kids can see worse online" thing, that kinda changed my mind a bit.

Wait, you sat through a whole meeting about this and came out on the other side? That's wild, I figured you'd be the last person to budge on that. I mean, I get the "kids see worse online" argument, but letting schools decide what's in the library just feels like a slippery slope to me. What changed your mind exactly, was it a specific parent or something the speaker said?
