TIL a museum in Shanghai hid a whole section about Tiananmen from foreign visitors last summer

I was touring a history museum in Shanghai and noticed one wing had a different layout compared to what locals described. Turns out they had a separate path for international guests that skipped some exhibits entirely. Has anyone else run into this kind of selective censorship while traveling?

Actually it was in 2016, not last summer.

I actually had it pegged as 2018 for a while because I was thinking of that other event that happened around then. But a buddy showed me the invoice from his phone bill and yeah, June 2016 is right there. Makes me wonder how many other dates I've got completely wrong in my head.
