Hot take: got my 3 year old Reddit account banned over the word 'biohazard' in a cleaning sub
Last year I posted in a cleaning forum about how I label my mop bucket when I use bleach on pet messes, and the auto filter killed my post for the word 'biohazard'. I had to pick between fighting it with mod mail or just rewording and reposting. I went with rewording and called it 'germy wet stuff' instead, and the post went through fine and got 40 replies. Then a week later someone else used the same word in a comment thread and their whole account got locked for a month. So now I keep a running list in my notes app of words that trip filters, and I swap them out before I hit post. Has anyone else had a post die over one word that was not even a bad word?
Man, my buddy got hit with the same thing on a gardening sub when he typed the word "pesticide" in a post about his tomatoes. His post got auto removed and he had to message the mods twice just to get it looked at, and by then nobody cared anymore. So yeah, his trick now is typing the word with a space in the middle, which looks dumb but at least it goes through.
