Got a 14 day ban from a history sub for correcting a mistranslation

I pointed out that a translated 18th century letter about trade routes used the wrong word for 'tariff' and the mods said I was 'disrupting the narrative.' The original French source clearly said 'droit de passage' not 'taxe.' Has anyone else run into mods protecting a flawed translation just because it fits their preferred story?

Wait, they actually used the phrase "disrupting the narrative" on you? That's some serious red flag language for a history sub, like they're running a propaganda operation instead of a scholarship discussion. Getting banned for pointing out a basic French translation error is wild, especially when "droit de passage" and "taxe" are clearly not the same thing in an 18th century trade context. I'd be pissed too, that's just mods picking a side in history instead of letting facts speak for themselves.

And mods wonder why people think history subs are just echo chambers now.
