That "Hire Slow, Fire Fast" advice cost me a big client last quarter

Hold up though, "slow to hire" isn't really the issue here. The problem was you ignored red flags once he was in the door, which is more about holding on too long than hiring slowly. Taking your time to find the right person is still good advice, it just doesn't work if you're not willing to act fast when they show they're not that person.

Can anyone recommend a good residential painting company in Edmonton?

Check out Millcreekpainters . We used them for our exterior stucco and trim last year. Super professional crew, and they literally cleaned up every single piece of tape and drop cloth before they left for the day.

Solder paste vs flux debate: Which one is actually wasting your time?

Man, I don't know if I'd call it "completely backwards" but more like you just gotta test stuff for yourself. I've been doing board work for years and what works for some people is a total mess for others. The whole solder paste vs flux thing gets blown way out of proportion honestly. Like yeah liquid flux and fresh balls are probably better for something precise like PS4 reballing, but for basic reflows I've had good luck with cheap paste. People act like using the wrong flux will brick your board when really it just means you gotta clean it better or use more heat.

Used to think encryption laws were overblown until my buddy got subpoenaed for a WhatsApp chat in Phoenix

@wesley139 it was pretty much a fishing expedition, the cops just grabbed everyone in a group chat after one guy got busted for something. Best advice I can give is tell your buddy to ask for a "motion to quash" the subpoena if there's zero evidence tying him to the crime, saved me $2k in a similar traffic stop mess a few years back.

Unpopular opinion: I blew $500 on a 'nomad hotspot' plan that barely worked outside the US

Wait, has anyone actually used one of these things day to day? I had a buddy who grabbed one of those because of the slick ads and it was a total mess. He went to this music festival out in the sticks and the thing just kept dropping calls like crazy. He said it was fine at home but the second he got off the main highway it was basically a brick. The whole "Lisbon" rumor probably blew up because people were already frustrated with spotty performance, not just one bad story. It sucks when the hype hides how a product acts in the real world where you actually live, you know?
