More native plants popping up in local parks lately

I was at the park with my kids last weekend. We saw new signs explaining the benefits of native plants. The city planted areas with local species that need less water. It's a small change, but it shows they're thinking about sustainability. I hope this idea spreads to other public spaces.

Are they considering how much this cuts long-term MAINTENANCE budgets too?

That's a smart move by the city, isn't it? Native plants save water and support local wildlife. More places should follow this example.

Have you looked into how little upkeep native plants actually need once they're in? From my experience, the first year requires some attention but after that, it's mostly just letting them do their thing (seriously, so little work). The water savings alone make it worth it, but seeing more butterflies and birds is the real win. Honestly, more towns should not just talk about it but help residents make the switch with clear guides.
