PSA: Those cheap 'reusable' silicone bags cost me a lot more than I planned
I bought a set of those silicone food storage bags from a random Amazon brand back in February, thought I was being super eco-friendly by ditching Ziplocs. Spent about $35 on a 12-pack, which seemed like a good deal compared to the name brand ones. After two months, like half of them started getting these little tears near the seal where you zip shut, so food would leak out. The last straw was when I put some cut up strawberries in one for my kid's lunch, got to school, and found a pink mess all over her backpack. So I'm out the $35 plus I had to buy a new backpack for $20. Has anyone else found a set that actually holds up more than a few months without leaking?

I gotta ask about those "random Amazon brand" ones - were they the kind with the little plastic slider thing on the seal or the ones where you just press the zipper shut with your fingers? Because I got burned by the slider type from a no-name brand too, they always failed right where that plastic piece meets the bag. I'm wondering if that's the same weak spot you're talking about, like if the design itself is the problem rather than just bad luck with a batch.

Slider type for sure. That plastic piece is always the first thing to pop off or crack. It's a design flaw, not bad luck.
