Dropped $1,200 on a tool pre-setter and I still touch off every tool by hand
Bought a used Zoller Venturion off a retiring guy in Rockford about 8 months ago. The pitch was that it saves you 10 minutes a setup, but I keep finding that half the time my Haimer reads different than the pre-setter after the tool's been in the spindle once, so I re-touch anyway. For a job shop running 5 or 6 different parts a day it just doesn't pay for itself, and I'd rather have put that money into a second probe. Anyone here actually trust their pre-setter numbers straight to the machine, or do you all verify like I do?
