Flipped my stance on tool presetters after a $600 mistake
I used to think tool presetters were just for fancy shops with money to burn. Then last month I ran a batch of 40 parts with a worn holder and scrapped 12 before I caught it. That was about $600 in material down the drain. My buddy let me borrow his cheap presetter for a week and I caught three bad tools before they hit the spindle. Has anyone else resisted buying one and then justified the cost after one bad run?
