My coolant pump seized up halfway through a big aluminum run
It happened Tuesday morning about three hours into a 200-part order. The machine just started smoking and I smelled that awful burnt plastic smell. I shut everything down, pulled the pump, and found the impeller was completely locked with swarf. Cleaned it all out with some brake cleaner and a pick, put it back together, and it fired right up. Anyone have a good way to stop chips from getting past the filter on a Haas VF2?

Remember when my buddy's coolant pump clogged with brass chips? He ended up adding a second coarse screen before the main filter.

How big was that coarse screen he added, like 20 mesh or something?
